Like every year, the third week of Jan is one of the most hectic weeks for analysts and investors. We have earnings reports from the following
Microsoft
Johnson & Johnson,
Tesla
AT&T
Verizon
Boeing
IBM
Visa and
Mastercard
The ones I really care about are Tesla, Microsoft and Mastercard. I am a strong believer that Tesla is going to be under pressure for multiple reasons. A 90K+ car requires a loan and interest rates are high. The days of free money are gone. I am seeing so many EV cars on the roads from others. The most important area where they will lose is the developing countries where Tesla does not have a foot in but the local brands have all released EV cars. Microsoft results will show if corporations are still spending on big projects. Mastercard has a huge challenge globally as UPI based apps are becoming popular almost making Mastercard services irrelevant.
The December pending home sales report is going to be out. I am expecting it to show a slowdown in new home purchases.
